    LETTER FROM THẦY

    FOR AVALOKITA’S STATUES PROJECT

    Edmonton, February 1st, 2012

Namo Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion

    Dear Monastics Sangha,

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Dharma,

The Avalokita Bodhisattva is very wonderful

Thousand arms can be reached anywhere

Responses at (Relieve) your pain and sufferings

    Alleviate and ease living beings.

The Great Compassion Bodhisattva also called Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is the embodiment of great compassion by rescuing all sentient beings from sufferings and offering joys to all of them. The great vow of Avalokitesvara is to listen to the supplications, and cries for help from those in difficulty in the world and to provide them with aid. Therefore, the Avalokitesvara’s image is very close to all Buddhists in everywhere and in every class. The Avalokitesvara is not only a clear mirror (reflection) for cultivators to practice all aspects but also a protector for suffering sentient beings to return and take refuge. Thus, it is not surprised that all living beings from low under-educated class to well-educated class as they always regard her as a “Compassionate Mother”.

The images Buddha and the Bodhisattva are the greatest symbols which help sentient beings to better themselves and purify their mind to be peaceful and joyful. In order to offer our gratefulness to the Bodhisattvas, to practice the compassion and to maintain the Buddhist culture in the oversea land, we would like to construct The Great Compassion Bodhisattva Statues at Westlock Meditation Centre, Westlock, Alberta, Canada. The proposed project of The Bodhisattva’s statues as follow:

One three-sided-body statue of The Bodhisattva is symbolized for Compassion, Wisdom and Courage. The statue’s height is 9.1 meter and is made from copper. Eight Dharma Protectors statues will support the feet of the bronzed statue. Each statue is 1.850 meter tall and made from jade stone. The overall height is 10.950 meter tall

Twelve stone statues of the Bodhisattva are symbolized for His 12 Great Vows.

One sitting Bodhisattva statue with 4-side-faces at 2 meters tall made from stone and will be placed at the pond.

A 2 meter tall stone altar with incense holder.

It will take more than a year to build with the cost estimated at $800,000 USD. We sincerely invite all monks and nuns bless for the project and encourage all the Buddhist followers to strongly support and contribute to this great project in order to complete on time.

All the contribution and donation made to: Truc Lam Monastery at the above address or please contact (780) 471-1093 for further information.

We pray that most Compassionate Bodhisattva guard us with your thousand arms and illuminate us with your thousand eyes. May us be well and overcome all obstacles, our project come to fully successful.

Homage to the Buddha of Great Successful.

    Yours in the Dharma,

    Thich Phap Hoa, Abbot
